After last night’s awkward encounter with John Calipari, the Kentucky coach addressed the media today but said little about the New York Times report that the NCAA is looking into the potentially questionable academics of former guard Eric Bledsoe.
When asked if he’d spoken to Bledsoe since the incident, Calipari said “we’re good on that.”
When asked if he still backs his practices on evaulating players’ transcripts, Calipari said “What kind of question are you asking me? I already told you the school has commented on that.”
Calipari spoke for about three minutes before heading to the elevators, briefly assessing his team and the speculation that he’ll one day coach LeBron James in the NBA.
“The only people that seem to not believe me were you guys,” Calipari said. “I’ve said I’m going to be at Kentucky next year. I don’t need to say anything else.”
About the rampant speculation surrounding him, Calipari said “‘I’d rather not have it, but I can’t control if someone chooses to write something.”
